Here's the Dealio - My Health and Delays

It's been a while since my last release. A Loooong while, especially in kindle years! The same could be said about my blog and Facebook page and anywhere else I post stuff. (Though that could be due to my frustrating shyness! the more followers I get, the shyer I become! Gah!)

But, there is a reason for that. I have been suffering on and off for the past couple years with health problems, mostly an unquenchable fatigue that had gotten so bad I thought I was suffering from CFS, or Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. But, as bad as that was, I was always able to work through it on my better days.

Unfortunately for me, and all of you, my health took a turn for the worse around the beginning of the year. My fatigue spiraled out of control and along came a host of other problems. Over the past couple of months I've felt like I've been losing my mind! Most days are spent sleeping or in such a complete fog I can pass for a walker on The Walking Dead. My memory is that of an 80 year old. But all that pales to the incessant dizziness. Most of the time I shuffle around the house like a drunk zombie. It's all very frustrating, because out of the dozens of doctor and specialist visits, they still haven't found anything besides a slight thyroid problem. I'm still not sure if that is what is causing all my woes or not.

Anyway, health-rant aside, I have put my writing on the back-burner until I can get some of this sorted out. I refuse to write in my current state because I believe I owe you guys better than that. Anything I write now will most likely be terrible and rambling and incomprehensible.

So please bear with me! I swear I'm not doing it to torture you! I promise!

I just need a little time to figure this all out.

~Casey

  1. I commented... but it didn't post. So I will do it again ;) I have hypothyroidism. I was taking 100mcg of Levothyroxine. It was a struggle for me to get put on it because my doctor said it was a negligible issue since I was really close to the normal range. However when I started taking it, within a week "fog world" as I called it, disappeared and has never come back. I was only on the medication for a year. Good luck with your health, hopefully your doctor's can find out what's wrong so that you can get back to writing. I would really like to be able to read book 3 of your cursed magic series.

To my utter shock it was everything ive been looking for in a book. they are now my top favorite books atm, you are an incredible writer. I started reading and was immediately drawn in and havnt stopped until i finished the second book to find out my new favorite author is sick :(. My husband thinks im going crazy yelling at fictional characters lol I need closure, i need answers, claire needs get her love straight and just tell him already, its driving me crazy lol. Anyway I hope you feel better soon and i anxiously await the next or final book to the series.

    1. Thanks, Kathy! Glad you took a chance on my books! I have tried a few different thyroid meds, but neither of them worked out, so I hope I find the answer to my problems soon, it's getting very frustrating! Anyways, thanks for reading and sorry for the delay!

  7. (I had to edit a bit so this is the edit post)
I hope you get well soon! Health is number 1 in life. I think it is brave to decide not to write and focus on health!
I also get dizzy a lot though that comes from my ears and I can't do anything about it (I got some hearing problems as well, like slowly turning deaf and tinnitus...). But this isn't about me it is about you! I wish you luck!
(Just a side comment, did you hear about paleo diet? I heard that it can increase some health issues. Just google it. You might give it a try.)
Anyway wish you all the best!

  8. It took me 6 years to figure out my health problems...but yours sound very auto-immune like. I had similar issues and it turned out I had Lupus. Have they checked your blood for ANA (antibody that is really high in some auto-immunce diseases) as well as check for inflammation proteins (C-reactive protein). I wish you luck and hope they can find outan answer soon as I know how frustrating that can be. I hope you feel better soon!

  10. Casey,
I hope you figure out whats going on with your health soon! It's very scary to not know what the problem is! I have been fighting fatigue, anxiety, weight gain, moodiness, and other minor problems for 2 plus years. We finally figured out it was my Thyroid and after 2 years of being on medication I had to have it taken out a month ago. (Now even more meds are required LOL) But while I was in recovery from my thyroid removal I found your books! Silver Lining! Your health is number one! Get Better and your readers will be here patiently waiting :)
    Hugs

    1. Thanks Savanah! At this point I'm pretty sure it is my thyroid. It's pretty miserable and doctors aren't much help! Hope you are doing better!

  11. Casey, I left a message on your Facebook, but have the doctors check your CD57, Vitamin D and do a Lyme Titers test. Also, do a genetic test for MTHFR, it is a gene mutation that can cause all of the symptoms you are experiencing and mimic fibromyalgia, autoimmune disorders and contribute to CFS. Believe me I know it sounds like a long shot, but I promise it is a good place to start. After almost seven years of unexplained pain, fatigue and many other symptoms no one could explain I was diagnosed with CLD (chronic lyme disease) and MTHFR. After 18 months of antibiotic treatment I am now much better than I was. Look up MTHFR and ask your doctors to test. It is a simple blood test. Prayers you get to feeling better, cant wait to read your next books. You are a talented writter.

  12. I can't find the post I sent you earlier-I'm not very savvy when it comes to these things. But to brief what I tried to post earlier- I am mesmerized with your books and about to start my third reading of all 3. I am devastated hearing of your health and praying for Gods healing powers to cover you. I jab an inspiring thought to perhaps appease myself as well as the rest of your fans- the third of book 3 that you have given your publisher, why not publish it as book .3 or 3.3. It woul be amazing just to know a glimpse of their story and perhaps be the underlying boost you need to finish book 3. Your health is much more important but maybe focusing on your book might help ease your stresses concerning your health. Blessings to you-my talented new found author!

  13. Just as I thought, I just finished book 2.5 again. I started reading it as soon as I posted you earlier today! I am totally engulfed in the characters even more so than my second reading! I'm about to start book 1 for my third time and then book 2. Thankyou for such an awesome escape from reality. Eagerly awaiting for rest of this awesome story's ending-one in which I'm hoping Claire finally gives in to her love for Farron even if she never finds out exactly what she is! Again, know my prayers are with you and Gods healing powers are surrounding you

  14. As I said-I am not all that savvy so I don't know how to correct my typographical errors! The 2 question marks were supposed to be exclamation marks and "take" was supposed to be tale. Sorry😟.

  15. I have the exact same problem. No idea what it is. Have had it going on six years and the doctors are stumped. They keep giving me sleeping pills and antidepressants that don't even work or do any good.
